ILOILO CITY, July 28 – The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) will soon release the fund that will cover the second tranche of increase in salaries of government employees.

DBM regional director for Western Visayas Alfonseo Bedonia Jr. said while the cash requirement for Personnel Services (PS) and Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) of government agencies for the entire year was already deposited in banks the fund for the salary increase meantime is yet to be released.

To recall former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed Executive Order No. 900 that allowed the implementation of the second tranche of Salary Standardization Law on June 24.

Bedonia said some agencies had to get the fund from their already existing fund which will be replaced later once the cash requirement for the increase is released.

The salary standardization that was approved by the Senate and House of Representatives Joint Resolution No. 4 in June last year came in four tranches.

The first pay hike took effect July 1 last year for National Government Agencies (NGAs), Government Owned and Control Corporations (GOCCs) and Government Financial Institutions (GFIs) and January this year for Local Government Units (LGUs). (PNA)
