MANILA, July 20 — The government is doing the necessary contingencies to address the water shortage in the metropolis as it calls on the public to save water.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson said they are now conducting cloud seeding operations to increase rainfall in the area of Angat Dam.

He said they have also mobilized 40 water tankers in waterless barangays in Metro Manila.

Firetrucks from the Bureau of Fire Protection and volunteer fire brigades were also tapped to conduct water rationing.

Maynilad Water Services, Inc. is now confronted with the problem of supplying adequate water needs of at least 1.126 million in Metro Manila.

Unlike MWSI, Manila Water, another water concessionaire can still cope with the demands of its customers.

But despite the scenario, Singson ruled out a water crisis, saying that the shortage is only concentrated within the metropolis.

"In case of Manila Water, they're still within manageable situation but I don't think we have a water crisis nationwide," he said. (PNA)
