MANILA, July 18 – The Navotas local government announced that it is beefing up all its operations related to its anti-drug abuse program.

Navotas Mayor John Rey Tiangco said they will be assisted in this endeavor by the Navotas Anti-Drug Abuse Council (NADAC).

Tiangco said key officials of NADAC pledged to support the city's anti-drug endeavors aside from helping the local police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in its demand reduction strategy and the identification of drug personalities in the locality.

In the same vein, the Navotas mayor also directed all concerned offices to join hands and fully implement all the laws related to illegal drug operation.

Measures to be implemented include prevention, mitigation and apprehension of people involved in this illegal activity.

In order to fully attain the objectives of the program, Tiangco also ordered to intensify the Navotas Cops-on-foot Patrol wherein there will be a 24-hour deployment of policemen in every barangay to work round-the-clock and closely monitor the operation.

“I am appealing to all Navoteños to please be vigilant at all times and let’s do our share in the fight against drugs. This is a strong warning to all drug pushers and users that plan to operate here in our town. We will apply the full force of the law against you,” he added.

Navotas was adjudged as the NCR’s Best in Peace and Order Council for three straight years from 2002 to 2004 for its success in crime prevention, law enforcement, prosecution and courts, corrections and rehabilitation activities like livelihood projects, fire prevention, community development, environmental protection, health and sanitation.
