Elected Surigao del Norte execs to take oath at newly-refurbished Provincial Gym

SURIGAO CITY, June 29 — Newly elected provincial government officials of Surigao del Norte are scheduled to take their oath of office tomorrow June 30 at the newly refurbished Surigao del Norte provincial gym.
The first-ever elected lady Surigao del Norte Governor Sol Matugas, Vice Governor–elect Carlos Egay, Jr., re-electionist Congressman-elect Guillermo Romarate, Jr. and wife, Myrna Romarate who is elected number one Provincial Board member will lead the oath-taking of other provincial officials.
Matugas and Romarate were former school teachers before they joined politics. Governor-elect Sol Matugas is former Department of Education regional director of Caraga Region and Region 8 whose regional capital is Tacloban City.
The oath-taking will be held at around 9 a.m. after a Eucharistic Mass at 8. a.m. to be held at San Nicolas De Tolentino Cathedral in this city.
Immediately after the oath-taking ceremonies after some speeches, a thanksgiving luncheon will be held also at the provincial gym.
In the evening, a fireworks display will be held and will be witnessed by thousands of Surigaonons followed by a dinner fellowship then a Thanksgiving program.
A Disco concert for all Surigaonons will then follow.
The historical Surigao del Norte Provincial Gym was refurbished under two administrations of outgoing Governor Robert Ace Barbers and his brother, former Governor Robert Lyndon Barbers who ran for Surigao City Mayor but lose to Surigao City Mayor-elect Engr. Ernesto Matugas. (PNA)
