New Bacolod City officials to take oath on July 3

BACOLOD CITY, June 24 – Bacolod City officials here are set to take oath in a ceremony at the New Government Center on July 3.

Bacolod City Mayor Leonardia said the guest of honor for the inauguration is Senator Franklin Drilon.

He stressed that Senator Franklin Drilon got the highest number of votes in Bacolod City among all senatorial candidates during the last elections.

Leonardia said that Senator Drilon’s presence in the inaugural ceremonies is a great pride and honor to all Bacoleños, being an Ilonggo himself.

Set to take their oath as officials of Bacolod City are congressman-elect Dr. Anthony Golez Jr., reelectionists Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson.

Golez is the youngest congressman in the city’s history at 37. Meanwhile, Mayor Leonardia is the first mayor in Bacolod to be serve for three consecutive terms, while Sayson is the first reelected vice mayor of the city.

Also expected to take their oath are councilors El Cid Familiaran, Homer Bais, Archie Baribar, Roberto Rojas, Catalino Alisbo, Em Legaspi-Ang, Dindo Ramos, Elmer Sy, Sonya Verdeflor, Al Victor Espino, Caesar Distrito and Carlos Jose Lopez.

Leonardia also said that city government, in coordination with the three employees’ unions, will hold three-day pre-inauguration activities that will start on June 30. The activities include musical-variety shows to be prepared by city government employees. (PNA)
