ILOILO CITY, June 24 – The Department of Education (DepEd) here said that teachers would be able to download free teaching materials through the internet for free.

DepEd assistant regional director Dr. Corazon Brown said that teachers will be able to download through the Learning Resources and Management Development System (LRMDS).

Brown said that the LRMDS allows teachers to download educational materials they need for their subjects, especially on science and math. Teaching materials can be downloaded in the LRMDS straight from the DepEd central office as well as other partner agencies.

She said that they would also train teachers on how to use the LRMDS technology. They will act as technical staff in their respective schools and help inform other teachers of new teaching innovations.

The project is part of the Project STRIVE (Strengthening the implementation of basic education in the Visayas) in support of the Basic Education Sector Reform Agenda (BESRA) of the department.

DepEd will also have an LRMDS center wherein teachers can visit anytime. The two-storey center will also be the venue for future trainings and seminars for the teachers all over the region.

The center is equipped with a telecom conference facility that uses the internet. Brown said that division superintendents could have meeting using the telecom and they don’t have to report in the division main office in Iloilo City.

They could connect with the regional office using the internet and video conference anytime, and anywhere in the region, she said. (PNA) RMA/AJP/ LPCarnaje
