(Metro News) German national gunned down in Makati City

MANILA, June 17 –An executive assistant manager for food and beverages of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at the corner of Dela Rosa and Peria streets in Barangay San Lorenzo, Makati City Thursday morning.

Makati chief of police Supt. Froilan Bonifacio identified the victim as Sergio Mazza, 38 years old, a German national, was on his way to his work when shot by unidentified gunmen thrice in his body.

Mazza was earlier reported as an Italian, but Bonifacio clarified that he was a German national.

Mazza's body was taken to a funeral parlor, police said.

Bonifacio said police were still conducting follow-up investigation to determine the motive of the shooting as well as identify and apprehend the gunmen who immediately fled the crime scene.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) have recovered three spent shells from a .22 revolver as well as the victim’s cellular phone, which police believed the suspects had no intention to rob the victim. (PNA)
