MANILA, June 14 — A ranking official of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has cited the need for the Filipino people "to also take part in bringing about the change they want in government" as President-elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino 3rd cannot do it all by himself.

“Change cannot happen with one person alone… We should all help in bringing about change to the country,” said Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo, chairman of the National Secretariat for Social Action (Nassa) of the CBCP

At the same time, he called on Filipinos to pray for the country's new leaders so that they may serve the nation well.

“Let us pray for our new leaders so they may remain true to their promises,” he said.

The CBCP official also urged the people to be vigilant and guard the actions to be taken by the incoming Aquino administration.

“Let us be vigilant. We should remain watchful of the things that they do and be ready to speak out if we see anything wrong,” Pabillo stressed.

He said that the people should not be afraid of correcting what is wrong in the society, noting that people in power have the tendency to abuse it. (PNA)
