MANILA, June 9 — The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) will propose the Aquino administration to prioritize poverty alleviation and environmental protection.

In a press briefing, NEDA Director General Augusto Santos said the proposal will be included in the Medium Term Philippine Development Plan which they will submit to President-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III on July 1.

"We are preparing a strategic MTPDP, a product of consultations from all quarters and what we think are the social and economic priorities in the next six years," Santos said.

Aside from poverty alleviation and environmental protection, Santos said the Aquino administration must also focus on balancing the budget, and undertake infrastructure and public investments.

Santos said the condition cash transfer program implemented by the Arroyo administration should be carried on to the next term. "This has been proven to be successful not only here but also in other countries," he said. (PNA)
