Filipinos asked to display flag until June 12–Mendoza

MANILA, June 2 -—Malacanang on Wednesday asked every Filipinos to display the Philippine flag until the celebration of Independence Day on June 12.

According to Executive Secretary Leandro Mendoza, last May 28 (Friday) is the National Flag Day.

”We enjoined everyone to display our national flag in our offices, at home, and everywhere else where it would be appropriate and patriotic to display the national colors,” Secretary Mendoza said on Wednesday during a media briefing.

He added, we have until June 12, our 112th Independence Day, to display proudly our national flag.

”On June 12, we will celebrate Kalayaan 2010 as our Tagumpay ng Bayan—a day to celebrate our fight for freedom and independence from want, from poverty, from ignorance,” Mendoza pointed out.

”Our 112th year of independence will be celebrated in appropriate and fitting ceremonies at the Luneta on June 12. We ask our countrymen to join us in the celebration,” the Palace official added.
