PNP honors Philippine heroes on 'Araw ng Kalayaan'

MANILA, May 29 – The Philippine National Police is fielding a sizable contingent of parading elements for the civic–military parade at the Quirino Grandstand in commemoration of the 112th Anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence on June 12.

Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will lead national officials, among them, PNP Chief, Director General Jesus A Verzosa in the 112th Philippine Independence Day celebration with the theme “Kalayaan: Tagumpay ng Bayan”.

Activities organized by the National Historical Institute to commemorate the 112th Philippine Independence Day commences on May 28, 2010 with the “Araw ng Watawat” (Philippine National Flag Day).

The PNP will also participate in simultaneous Independence Day ceremonies at the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite, the Barasoain Church in Malolos, Bulacan, the Andres Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City, the Mausoleo delos Veteranos del Revolucion at the Manila North Cemetery, and at the Pinaglabanan Shrine in San Juan City.

Local PNP Units will be deployed in these venues to ensure order and security.

In Camp Crame, memorial services will be held at the Bantayog ng mga taga-Pamayapa in honor of PNP personnel who died in line of duty, while simultaneous flag-raising ceremonies will be held in all PNP Regional, Provincial and City Police Offices across the country.(PNA)
