MANILA, May 29 –"My miserable life is over."

Thus said a 31-year-old battered Lilibeth Zamora after stabbing her drunken stepfather dead in Tondo, Manila on Friday night.

However, the misery of Zamora is not actually over as she is now languishing at the Manila Police District (MPD) detention cell.

Zamora, of Gate 17, Area D, Parola Compound, Tondo, was tagged for the death of her stepfather, Jerry Barrera, 48.

Barrera, also of Gate 17, Area D, died on the spot due to stab wounds in the body.

Police Officer 2 Lester Evangelista of the MPD Homicide Section said the incident occurred at 10:20 p.m. Friday near their house.

Prior to the incident, Zamora was heading for her home when she passed by her stepfather who was having a drinking session with some friends.

Reports said Barrera allegedly hurled invectives at his stepdaughter while passing by. She lost her temper and engaged the victim in a verbal tussle.

Irked by the invectiveness, Zamora suddenly pulled out a fan knife and chased her stepfather, police said.

The victim reportedly managed to run a few steps away before he tripped and stumbled on the ground.

Zamora was arrested by barangay watchmen who caught her while in the act of stabbing the victim. (PNA) RMA/JES
