COTABATO CITY, May 25 — Public Schools in Cotabato City are all set for the opening of classes for school year 2010-2011 next month.

Jhonny Balawag, spokesperson of Cotabato City Schools Division, said parents, teachers, students and other stakeholders continue to clean the classrooms and surroundings of school grounds.

"By June 15, we are ready and the pupils will start regular classes," Balawag said.

Belinda Maruhom, city schools division superintendent, said the Brigada Eskwela project of the Department of Education helped make every classroom in the city "pupil, teacher friendly."

Policemen, soldiers and out of school youth helped in the week-long activity, she said.

One of the schools that is now ready to accept students is Cotabato City National High School-Rojas Site.

"We are ready now, thanks to Brigada Eskwela," school principal Panfilo Cedenio said.

Cedenio said each classroom at CCCNHS-Rojas Site has TV monitors and DVD player as an additional educational aid.

Private schools in the city had also their own "Brigada Eskwela" where parents and pupils joined non-teaching and teaching personnel in preparing the classrooms for opening next month. (PNA)
