7 schools from W. Visayas cited as outstanding implementers of Brigada Eskwela

ILOILO CITY, May 25 – Seven schools from Western Visayas will receive a national award as outstanding implementers of the "Brigada Eskwela" in a ceremony that will be held in Metro Manila this June 4.

Department of Education (DepEd) regional director for Western Visayas Mildred L. Garay said the awardees were chosen based on the participation of stakeholders likewise amount that was generated for the improvement of schools.

Director Garay said each and every school submitted a monitoring report that served as basis of the selection.

Awardees for the elementary schools include Minoyan Elementary School in Murcia, and Sto. Rosario Elementary School in Silay City both from Negros Occidental and the Kalibo Pilot Central School from Kalibo, Aklan.

Meantime, the Nabitasan Elementary School in Iloilo City was elevated to the Hall of Fame for receiving the recognition for three consecutive years.

Awardees for the secondary level are the La Castellana National High School from La Castellana, Negros Occidental; Passi National High School from Passi City and Maayon National High School from Maayon, Capiz.

Meanwhile, Garay commented on the lack of presence of local government officials during the kick off of the week-long Brigada Eskwela on Monday, although she said it was understandable because they might be tired due to the recent elections

Nonetheless, she said that over-all the kick off was successful with the presence of parents and stakeholders who took time out to prepare schools for the June 15 start of classes. (PNA)
