MANILA, May 21 — An official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said they already know the identity of ‘koala bear,” the whistle-blower of the alleged election anomalies in the May 10 polls.

“We already know who is behind koala boy. He is a losing candidate,” said Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez.

The information, he added points to a “losing presidential candidate” as the mastermind behind the masked man.

The koala bear nickname was given by Congressman Teddy Boy Locsin.

The identity was unraveled based on the initial reports that they received from several government agencies.

“The information is still very, very difficult to substantiate but we trust our sources,” he added.

However, he said that they are still verifying the identity of the said individual.

Jimenez noted that once they pinpointed the mastermind, he/she will be facing sanctions for undermining the credibility of the elections.

The poll official said he is certain that the reason why the whistleblower surfaced is to discredit the elections.

Early this week, the whistleblower, a masked man alleged that he was part of the vote padding and shaving operations during the recently-concluded elections.

The man, who appeared only on video to media, said that the votes of some presidential bets were shaved in favor of Aquino, who is on top of the race since the start of the counting of the votes in the May 10 polls. (PNA)
