MANILA, May 21 – Losing Quezon City mayoral candidate Mike Defensor on Friday said he filed a petition before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) questioning the results of the May 2010 local elections, where his rival QC Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista won by 50,563 votes for mayor.

Defensor, who garnered 1,126,847 votes, claimed that the results in all 1,281 clustered precincts are fraudulent and anomalous.

“It seems that the votes we got were already set up from day one and were based on the surveys,” he told reporters.

Defensor argued that unlike other larger areas in the country, it is easier to track and gather evidence in Quezon City since it only has a small number of clustered precincts.

“We have about 10 reports already from different precincts but our volunteers are still getting data as to the number of people who actually voted (and who they voted for),” he said

Defensor and other losing candidates for mayor, vice mayor, congressman and councilor have formed an alliance and are currently going around in Quezon City gathering signatures from voters whose votes did not reflect in the canvassed results. (PNA) vcs/JCA
