MANILA, May 19 — Malacanang is convinced that Senator Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III is the winner of the automated May 10 elections.

Presidential Political Adviser Prospero Pichay said at a media briefing on Wednesday that Sen. Aquino is the real winner in the presidential race held last May 10.

Pichay added that he recognizes Aquino as the real winner even if Congress has yet to officially proclaim him as the new president of the republic.

”We recognize that the people have spoken and they have chosen Senator Noynoy Aquino as President, so we have to move on. It is not the end of the world and this country has to move on. We have a democratic process. We exercised it and it was very successful,” Pichay added.

Executive Secretary Leandro Mendoza also said in the same media briefing in Malacanang on Wednesday that they are now focused on the smooth transition of government which was ordered last week by President Arroyo.

Mendoza also said that the May 10 elections was very successful.

”It is very credible. As a matter of fact, we commended profusely the institutions of government that participated in the successful conduct of elections. Let us just wait for the result of the investigation of Congress,” Mendoza added.

The House of Representatives on Wednesday started its investigation into allegations of election fraud in the recently concluded May 10 automated polls. (PNA)
