MANILA, May 19 — A ranking official of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD on Wednesday said the House speakership should come from their camp to ensure transparency in the next administration.

"Noynoy should encourage that speakership should come from us so that there should really be transparency," said Presidential Political Affairs Adviser and Lakas-Kampi-CMD vice president for recruitment and membership Prospero Pichay, Jr. in a press briefing in Malacanang.

"If they're willing to choose our speaker, then we're more than willing. We don't want to block the legislative agenda of the next administration," he added.

The Lakas-KAMPI-CMD is prodding outgoing President and incoming Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to run for House Speaker but Pichay said Arroyo is not likely to run.

"It's too early to agree on that. Matagal pa elections for speakership, sa July 26 pa. She said she just wants to become like Sonia Gandhi," Pichay said.

He is confident that there will be more lawmakers who will join their party.

There are currently 109-Lakas Kampi-CMD members in the House of Representatives whom he expect to bring in the numbers during the election for House speakership.

"We're confident na baka madagdagan kami. After all, speakership is a numbers game," he said. (PNA) LOR/JMC
