MANILA, April 14 – With the decision of Lakas stalwart Albay Governor Joey Salceda to transfer to the Liberal Party camp, Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manuel Villar said on Wednesday that he felt vindicated from the "Villarroyo" tag by his opponents from LP.

”I look at it in a positive way because it proves that the black propaganda that President (Gloria Macapagal) Arroyo has ordered the local to transfer to NP is not true,” Villar said in a media interview.

Villar said the move of Salceda has no impact on the NP since there are also big names in the local levels who have transferred to the Nacionalista camp.

”It has no impact because these transfer and defections are really expected specially when the election is drawing near,” Villar explained.

Villar described Salceda’s move as the best proof that if there is suspicion of alliance, it should be between President Arroyo and Liberal Party standard-bearer Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.

Meanwhile, Villar’s running mate Loren Legarda admitted that she was shocked by Salceda’s decision specially that she was endorsed by the presidential adviser on economic affairs during the recent NP campaign sortie in Camarines Sur.

”I was shocked but I’m confident that Gov. Salceda will be true to his endorsement he gave to me,” Legarda said.

Legarda said she has yet to talk with the governor of Albay who is still in official trip abroad.

Villar is being accused by the Liberal Party of having a "secret" agreement with the First Family, which the NP bet repeatedly denied.

The NP tandem took different routes in wooing voters from Metro Manila with Villar gracing the 45th Commencement Exercises of the Perpetual Help College of Manila at the Philippine International Convention Center and Legarda visiting her Lingkod Loren medical mission in the Smokey Mountain in Tondo.

Aside from gracing her Lingkod Loren that offered medical check up and medicines and free haircut and eyeglasses, Legarda also met with the various barangay health workers in Metro Manila.

”I want to help our barangay health workers by giving them supplemental livelihood because their P1,000 monthly allowance is not enough,” Legarda said.

If elected vice president, Legarda said she would set aside funds for skills training of the barangay health workers and provide them with Philhealth coverage.

Villar and Legarda will also campaign separately on Thursday with the NP president heading to Marawi City and Legarda to La Union. (PNA) LAP/jfm

We will vote for GIBO kase hindi sya “trapo.” Utak dapat ang gagamitin in choosing our next president..

TO ALL THINKING VOTERS: , please use your head and think well kung kanino nyo ipagkakatiwala ang mga boto nyo. MAY GOD GUIDE US IN CHOOSING OUR NEXT PRESIDENT!
