Local diver finds two pieces of anti-craft projectile in Bataan–PCG

MANILA, April 14 –A local diver found two pieces of anti-aircraft projectile in Bataan on Tuesday afternoon, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Wednesday.

Lieutenant Commander Arman Balilo, PCG spokesman, said Aurello Pascual Jr., 39, of Limay, Bataan, turned-over to Coast Guard Station Bataan two pieces of 40 mm anti-aircraft projectile on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Reports reaching the Coast Guard Action Center disclosed that said diver was conducting diving operations (spear fishing) at approximately 20 feet underwater at vicinity 30 meters off Lamao Pier, Brgy. Lamao, Limay, Bataan when he noticed two (2) pointed iron objects beside a group of corals.

The diver picked up the ammos and immediately brought it to CGS Bataan.

Upon inspecting said ammo projectiles, CGS Bataan Commander Geronimo Tuvilla said that the discovered projectiles were a World War II 40 mm Anti-aircraft projectile vintage with a diameter 11/2 inches in length with markings on the fuse (P A 1933 B D Fuse M-38 Lot 12931).

Said projectiles were properly secured by Coast Guard Station Bataan personnel for safekeeping. (PNA) LBV/JES
