PCG launches SAR for missing fisherman off Talicud Island

MANILA, April 10–Operatives of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) launched a search and rescue operation for a 36-year-old fisherman who failed to return home since Thursday from fishing venture off Talicud Island, Davao City.

Lieutenant Commander Arman Balilo, PCG spokesman, identified the victim as Joan Echavez, 36, years old fisherman.

Echavez failed to return home onboard an unregisterd motorboat after fishing at the vicinity of Talicud Island, Davao City fishing ground on Thursday at 11 a.m.

His wife, Eden Echavez, reported to Coast Guard Station Davao on Friday that her husband never returned home from a fishing venture.

Personnel of Coast Guard Station Davao issued a Notice to Mariners (NOTAM) to all motorboats plying from Sta Ana Pier, Davao City to Palicud Island / Katipunan, Igacos, Davao Del Norte.

The PCG advised all motorboats plying the vicinity to be on the look-out of the subject motorboat.

Coastal barangays were also informed to report immediately to the nearest Coast Guard Station for any sighting of the said motorboat. (PNA) RMA/JES
