BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, April 6 – Governor Luisa Cuaresma here recently vowed to use the P318 million share of the provincial government from the real property tax payment over the operation of the multi-million Casecnan Multi-Purpose Irrigation and Power Project (CMIPP) for the establishment of more schools, learning materials and computers to improve the learning processes of children in the province.

“The share of the provincial government will be used for various projects identified under the Annual Investment Plan of the province,” she said.

Cuaresma said that the P7.187 million allotted under the Special Education Fund (SEF), the amount will be spent for the construction of additional school buildings specially in remote barangays.

This developed as the provincial board recently passed a resolution allotting some P100 million to fund various infrastructure projects here.

The P318 million represents the share of the province from the P750 million real property tax payment of CMIPP’s operator, CE Casecnan Water and Energy Company (CECWEC) last year.

The payment covers the previous and upgraded real property tax delinquencies of CECWEC through the operation of the CMIPP in Alfonso Castaneda town.

Cuaresma also said that aside from the infrastructure projects, the provincial government will also purchase instructional books, computers and other materials which will be distributed to various schools in Nueva Vizcaya to help schoolchildren improve their knowledge and skills.

She also said that teachers paid under the SEF will also get an increase in their honoraria starting this year apart from the provision of trainings to improve their teachings skills and methods.

Alfonso Castaneda town, which hosts the CMIPP, also got P337 million from the P750 million payment of CECWEC.

Also recipients of the real property tax share were CMIPP’s covered barangays of Alfonso Castaneda such as Abuyo, Cauayan, Lipuga and Pelaway. (PNA)
