BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, April 6 – Increase on the collection of real property taxes in the province is expected after at least 187 tax revisers recently completed their training on the General Revision of Real Propety Assessment for 2010.

Perfecto Martinez,Jr., provincial treasurer said the newly graduated ‘tax revisers’ will bring more revenues for the local government units in the province.

“These new tax revisers will be dispatched to update the current market valuation of properties. This will enrich the province with millions of pesos,” Martinez pointed out. He also stressed that real property collection is usually not given attention since it is being left on the responsibility of property owners.

He, however, said that much has to be done while property owners and persons receiving properties either by inheritance or by purchase do not usually report these to concerned agencies.

“it is now important for tax assessors to go to the local civil registrars to get a list of deceased persons properties who may have transferred these to his or her heirs,” Martinez pointed out.

He said the mobilization of the new tax revisers will ensure the collection and generation of more taxes that will redound to the establishment of needed infrastructure projects in the province.

Earlier, the provincial treasurer's office also deputized some 285 barangay treasurers who are expected to complement and supplement the efforts of real property tax revisers.

“Taxes are the lifeblood of local government units, without them we cannot move. Your services will soon be remembered since it will jumpstart additional development projects,” Martinez explained. (PNA)
