CAUAYAN CITY, March 18 – Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III in his visit here on Thursday promised to expand the irrigation development program in the country with a hope to sustain food sufficiency.

He acknowledged Isabela’s contribution to the country as one of the primary rice and corn producers in the country.

Aquino also pushed for the expansion of renewable energy sources, adding that the country should aim to become the world’s largest producer of geothermal energy.

He urged the government to address the power outages caused by improperly managed power generation facilities.

Aquino was in Cauayan City in Isabela where he held a motorcade and radio interviews. He later flew to Tuguegarao City wherein he toured the city's main thoroughfares to campaign along with vice presidential running mate Senator Mar Roxas. They met with villagers at the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines.

Aquino was accompanied by his sister, television host Kris Aquino, and James Yap, his brother-in-law. (PNA)
