In an 11-page decision, Judge Rafael Lagos of QCRTC Branch 79 found the accused Jose Mesias and Danilo Gonzales guilty of violating Section 15 of Republic Act No. 6425 for having sold 0.09 grams of shabu to a police poseur-buyer.

Both Mesias and Gonzales were sentenced to six months and one day to four years of imprisonment for the violation.

In addition, Mesias was also meted the jail term of six months and one day to two years and four months for illegal possession of 0.20 grams of shabu or violation of Section 16 of R.A. 6425.

Based on his testimony, PO2 Joseph Kabigting, then assigned at the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 1 Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) in La Loma, received a call at about 2 a.m. on June 11, 1999, informing that a drug trade was in progress in Barangay Talayan.
