UNITED NATIONS, March 14 — Two months after a devastating earthquake hit Haiti, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is visiting the country for a second time today, to assess the situation on the ground and to prepare for the upcoming donors conference.

More than 200,000 people died in the natural disaster that struck the capital city Port-au-Prince on January 12 and million people who have been displaced remain in need of food and shelter.

"The Secretary-General will also visit a camp for internally displaced persons and engage directly with Haitians still suffering the debilitating consequences of the earthquake," Ban's spokesperson, Martin Nesirky told journalists here.

More than 4.3 million people are receiving food assistance, while 1.2 million people are getting daily water distributions, and more than 300,000 children and adults have been vaccinated, according to the UN. (PNA/PTI)
