MANILA, March 12 –- Bagumbayan standard bearer Sen. Richard Gordon on Friday challenged his fellow presidential candidates to bare their concrete platforms and plans in ending poverty in the country.

“The others tell you, tapusin ang kahirapan (end to poverty). They don’t tell you how they will try to end it,” said Gordon at the national convention of Chamber of Thrift Banks in Makati City.

Gordon also said reproductive health should not be much of an issue, noting that the country’s population have already ballooned to 90 million.

He said the best thing to do is to “aim for quality population” by improving education.

The latest Social Weather Station survey show that more Filipinos are likely to vote for candidates that are in favor of the controversial Reproductive Health Bill (House Bill 5043).

Thirty-eight percent of the 2,100 survey respondents said they would support presidential bets who would support the bill while 6 percent said they would vote those who oppose it.

The former Olongapo City mayor has given as example the cases of India and China, where population is high, which used their population to their economic advantage.

Aside from Gordon, the convention was attended by Gilbert Teodoro (Lakas-KAMPI-CMD) , Sen. Manuel Villar’s wife, congresswoman Cynthia Villar and former Finance secretary Cesar Purisima, Noynoy Aquino’s representative to the event. (PNA) V3/jmc
