MANILA, March 7 — The National Police Commission (Napolcom) said recently that some 105 police officials are now qualified to shoot for a higher rank after they successfully hurdled the Police Executive Service Eligibility (PESE) exams,
Napolcom Chairman and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ronaldo Puno led the awarding of PESE certificates to the 105 successful examinees during the conferment rites held at the Imelda Crisol Roces Hall, Napolcom central office, Makati City.
Puno said that out of the 154 who took the final phase of the PESE exam, only 105 or 68 percent passed the panel interview. Napolcom Resolution No.2010-085 approved the conferment of PES Eligibility to the 105 police officials.
The PESE, an eligibility requirement for the ranks of Police Senior Superintendent (equivalent to colonel in the military) to Director General (equivalent to four-star general), focused on executive emotional quotient inventory, leadership competency assessment, moral development, job knowledge, communication skills assessment and creative development management, Puno said.
Joining Puno in the conferment rites were Napolcom Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Eduardo Escueta, Commissioner Luis Mario General, Commissioner Luisito Palmera and Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Jesus Verzosa.
While the agency remains committed to continuously cleanse and professionalize the PNP, Escueta said the Commission recognized the outstanding accomplishments of the police officers by promoting those who truly deserve career advancement in the service.
The PESE contains analytical questions on police leadership and police values designed to select the best future leaders or the cream of the crop in the police service, said Escueta.
Napolcom Personnel and Administrative Director Isidro Siriban said the Commission earlier approved Resolution No.2009-542, declaring the result of the PESE written exams conducted on August 30, 2009 at Makati University in West Rembo, Makati; University of Cebu in Banilad, Cebu City and University of Mindanao, Bolton Street, Davao City wherein 113 out of 473 examinees passed.
The agency also promulgated Resolution No.2006-082 which prescribed the PESE in the ranks of Senior Superintendent and higher.
