(Metro News) Snatcher drowned after jumping into Pasig River to elude arrest

MANILA, March 6 — A suspected snatcher was found floating in Pasig River Saturday morning, or two days after he snatched a bag of a woman.

Rogelio Achuela, single, of Parola Compound, Tondo, Manila, jumped into the Pasig River Thursday evening to elude arrest by responding policemen.

Police Officer 1 Gerry Amores, of the Manila Police District, said Achuela snatched the bag of Jacklyn Sales, 27, of Tondo, Manila, in front of Sta. Cruz church also in Manila at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Reports said he jumped into the river after being chased by responding policemen. The suspect remained missing until he was fished out at 6:15 a.m. Saturday just under the Delpan Bridge in Intramuros. (PNA) /JES
