ILOILO CITY, Feb. 10 — Four people were arrested in separate anti-illegal drugs operations in the city and Iloilo province by police operatives and the Regional Anti Illegal Drugs Special Operations Group (RAIDSOG).

Arrested in a drug raid Monday in Brgy. Bakhaw, Mandurriao district, Iloilo City were Ruby Orbe alias Neneng, 39 years old and John del Rosario alias Jojo, 40 years old, both residents of the said barangay.

Seized from them were three sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia, including money.

The duo has long been placed under close surveillance by RAIDSOG operatives based on the information that they are into the illegal drug trade in the said barangay for quite sometimes.

C/Inspector Ramir Gallardo of RAIDSOG expressed dismay over the inaction of barangay officials in helping the drug agency despite earlier directive from the local Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) that barangay officials, particularly the barangay chairman, must act as frontliners in the all-out war against illegal drugs right in their area.

It was learned that the subject house is a few meters away from the residence of a barangay official in the area.

Gallardo said the suspects are presently detained at the Mandurriao police station pending the filing of charges.

Meanwhile, a mother and her son were also arrested following a buy-bust operation conducted by the police at Sitio Dawis, Poblacion Ajuy, Iloilo.

Arrested by the narcotics policemen were Margie Artacio, 47, and her 16-year-old son, Boy Artacio.

Three sachets of suspected shabu and P3,000 cash believed to be proceeds from the sell of illegal drugs have been recovered from the possession of the Artacio matriarch.

Sr./Insp. Ariel Artillero, chief of police of Ajuy police station, said that Margie’s eldest son Nelmar Artacio, who was not around during the entrapment operation, is also included the drug watch list.

The Artacios are detained at the Ajuy PNP station. (PNA)
