Moderate earthquake hits southern Mexico: USGS

WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 — A moderate earthquake measuring 5.7 magnitude hit Oaxaca, Mexico, on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 14 miles (about 23 km) southeast of Miahuatlan, a small town in Oaxaca. There is no immediate reports of any damage and casualties.

The USGS initially reported that the quake was measured at 5.9 magnitude. (PNA/Xinhua)
