DAVAO CITY, Feb. 9 – A Filipino-Chinese businessman was sued for estafa after he failed to cater the food for a newly-wed couple at the compound of the Davao Prisons and Penal Farm (formerly Davao Penal Colony) in Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte, last year.

Benito Ng Suy Jr., owner of Jingle Bakeshope, was accused before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) for his failure to deliver the food being ordered by Glen Estepona, an event organizer and proprietor of Events Library in Bajada, this city.

In his complaint, Estepona said that he was hired as an event organizer for the wedding of couple Erwin and Rachel Gamao on Dec. 18, 2009 and he had contracted with Ng Suy for the food.

Ng Suy was tasked to deliver the food for the couple and for the visitors at the Davao Prisons and Penal Farm but until in the afternoon, there was no food delivered.

Estepona alleged that Ng Suy failed to fulfill his promise despite the fact that an initial payment was made by him in the amount of P17,000.

Due to Ng Suy’s failure, Estepona said he immediately ordered food from other food establishments in Panabo City in Davao del Norte but none of them accepted his order due to the urgency and the vast number of people to be served.

Estepona also said he tried to contact the Fil-Chinese trader but his calls left unanswered.

The case against Ng Suy was already filed before the RTC and scheduled to be raffled anytime this week. (PNA) RMA/Jessie L. Casalda/lvp
