MANILA, Feb. 8 — Malacanang has distanced itself from the sentiment of former Ambassador Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr.’s wife against Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard- bearer Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro Jr.
Deputy Presidential Spokesman Gary Olivar said in an interview on Monday with Malacanang reporters the comment made on the administration's presidential candidate by Ambassador Cojuangco’s wife, Gretchen, is a family issue.
”This should be treated with dignity and given some right to privacy,” Undersecretary Olivar stressed.
At the same time, Olivar explained that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who is the chairman emeritus of Lakas-Kampi-CMD, cannot attend the kick-off rally of Teodoro in Antipolo City on Tuesday night because of her very busy schedule.
”On top of her governance work, she is laying the communication plan of her legacy campaign for the Urban Luzon Beltway, aside from her campaign schedule to run for the second congressional seat of Pampanga,” Olivar said.
He added that if the President’s schedule will permit, President Arroyo will join the other campaign rallies of Teodoro.
The Lakas-Kampi-CMD presidential aspirant, together with his running mate Edu Manzano, senatorial candidates broadcaster Rey Langit, League of Municipalities of the Philippines president Ramon Guico, Secretary to the Cabinet Silveste Bello III and reelectionist Senators Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Manuel “Lito” Lapid will join the kick-off rally Tuesday night at Ynarez Gym in Antipolo City.
