MANILA, Jan. 28 – Supreme Court (SC) Spokesman and newly-appointed Court Administrator Atty. Jose Midas Marquez assured on Thursday that the records of the rebellion case against the prominent members of the Ampatuan family will be brought to the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC).

"Either today (Thursday) or tomorrow (Friday), the records of the case (rebellion) will be brought to the QCRTC," Marquez said.

The SC recently ordered the transfer of the trial of the rebellion case against the Ampatuan family from the Cotabato City RTC Branch 15 to the Quezon City RTC.

This was prompted by the petition filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) to transfer the venue of the trial of the rebellion case due to the vast influence of the Ampatuan family in Cotabato City and adjoining areas.

The respondents in the rebellion case include former Maguindanao Governor Andal Ampatuan, Sr., Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Governor Zaldy Ampatuan, former Maguindanao Acting Governor Sajid Ampatuan, Akmad Ampatuan, Anwar Ampatuan and more than 600 others.

They are now detained at the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) Detention Center in General Santos City.

"By next week, the rebellion case will be raffled off," Marquez said.

As to the issue of the detention of the suspects, Marquez said, it will be taken up by the Court. (PNA)
