MANILA, Jan. 28 – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will visit Lucena City tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 29) to grace the 25th anniversary celebration of the Episcopal Ordination of His Reverend Emilio Marquez, D.D., and spend the day with ordinary people.

The President will attend a concelebrated mass by 50 bishops at the St. Ferdinand Cathedral to mark the ordination of the Bishop of the Diocese of Lucena City.

Cebu Archbishop Cardinal Ricardo Vidal will give the homily.

After the Eucharistic celebration, the President will join the local folk at the Quezon Memorial Hospital and apprise them of the services the government is providing them.

The President, through the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), will hold a Common Tao Day for the poor residents of the city and nearby towns.

While doctors and dentists examine patients and give away medicines, the President will distribute medical kits, nebulizers, food packs, and wheelchairs.

First launched in Lubao, the President's hometown, on September 25 last year, Common Tao Day is patterned after the Common Man's Day the President's father, the late President Diosdado Macapagal, practiced in his time. (PNA)
