Devanadera justifies tight security measures vs Ivler

MANILA, Jan. 28 — Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Agnes Devanadera justified on Thursday the tight security measures being imposed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) against road rage murder suspect Jason Aguilar Ivler.
At the same time, Devanadera gave a "cold shoulder" on the move of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) to conduct an investigation into the alleged violation of human rights during the arrest of Ivler.
Ivler is the suspect in the fatal shooting of Renato Ebarle Jr., son of Presidential Chief of Staff Undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr., during a traffic altercation in Quezon City last November 18.
Ivler tried to resist and shot it out with the NBI agents during the service of a warrant of arrest against him at the house of his mother, Marlene Aguilar-Pollard, in Blue Ridge Subdivision, Quezon City last January 18.
The NBI filed on Wednesday additional charges of direct assault with frustrated and attempted murder against Jason and his mother in connection with the shootout that resulted in the wounding of Ivler himself and two NBI agents.
Pollard allegedly prevented the arrest of her son and secretly communicated to him the moves of the NBI agents.
Ivler is now confined at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City. (PNA)
