DAVAO CITY, Jan. 27 – For the seventh time, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) was again adjudged as the Best Police Office, city category.

One of the DCPO’s top achievements in 2009 was the discovery of the 16-kilo high-grade cocaine in a container yard along the old airport in Barangay Sasa last December led by the Sasa Police Precint commander, Insp. Alden Delvo.

Despite progressive groups’ negative impression with the police’s achievement, the Davao Police Regional Office in Camp Catitipan topped the search for regional offices also for the seventh time.

The Regional Mobile Group XI and the 1104th Provincial Mobile Group came in second after the panel of evaluators came to the city early this month to check the capacity and efficiency of the regional police force.

Meanwhile, the Mati Police Office in Davao Oriental took home the trophy for the rural category.

The awarding ceremony is scheduled on Jan. 29 at Camp Crame in Manila in line with the 19th anniversary of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Expected to receive the award are Davao regional director Chief Supt. Pedro Tango, Sr. Supt. Fermin Valdez, Mati police chief, DCPO director, Sr. Supt. Rene Aspera and former DCPO chief Sr. Supt. Ramon Apolinario. (PNA)
