MANILA, Jan. 17 — In an effort to lure more investments and recognize the lion share of different businesses in the continuing progress and development, the Navotas local government has conferred awards to companies for being top taxpayers in the fiscal year 2009 during the city's 104th anniversary last Saturday.

The city's top 10 taxpayers last year include: Linton Incorporated, Frabelle Fishing Corporation, Columbia International Food Products, Vifel 1 Ice Plant & Cold Storage Inc., Western Garments Inc., Frabelle Shipyard Corporation, Purechem Corporation, Vifel 2 Ice Plant & Cold Storage Inc., PNOC Exploration Corporation and Via Marine Corporation.

Mayor Tobias "Toby" Tiangco said the city has always been thankful to all the investors for supporting economic growth of Navotas city.

“We truly appreciate not just the awardees but all the companies that are actively supporting the city because more than financial investment, they are the bloodline for massive employment of our residents on top of being part of nation building,” Tiangco added.

The mayor assured companies he will continue to institute changes that would inspire the investors to work as a team of the local government in building a city that is safe and friendly to the business sector.

He also revealed the ongoing projects and plans of the local government as part of his “SUSUNOD NA!” program such as the renovation of the modern Navotas sports complex, construction of additional school buildings, construction of new police headquarters, continuous development of socialized housing project in Barangay Tanza, construction of additional bombastik pumping stations, and the construction of the 3.5-hectare reclamation coastal flood control project in Navotas shoreline.
