MANILA, Jan. 11 – The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Monday removed the QCPD-City Hall Police Office (CHPO) detachment in compliance with a directive from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

QCPD Director Elmo San Diego said the move was made in coordination with QC Mayor Feliciano “Sonny” R. Belmonte Jr. following the issuance of Comelec Resolution (CR) 8714 on Dec. 16, 2009.

The Comelec instructed the Philippine National Police (PNP) to remove all police stations and detachments located in any municipal and city hall.

All deployed security escorts were immediately recalled on Sunday and were brought back to their main units at their respective police headquarters.

San Diego said this was the first time all security escorts were ordered recalled for accounting. However, he assured all individuals, especially witnesses and kidnap victims, that the PNP would not abandon them.

Meanwhile, Chief Inspector Richie Claraval, head of the city hall police detachment, was reassigned to the QCPD-Station 10 in Kamuning.

The policemen formerly assigned to the police detachment were also re-assigned to various police stations in QC. (PNA)
