Newly-retrieved M/V Catalyn B mishap victims identified

MANILA, Jan. 7 –The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)has identified the four bodies retrieved Wednesday from the wreckage of M/V Catalyn B that sank off Limbones Island on Christmas Eve.

The 7-month-old girl was identified as Rhein Shanel Abeleda, who was retrieved underneath a cot bed inside the 79- gross ton M/V Catalyn B, a vessel owned and operated by the San Nicholas Shipping Lines.

Lieutenant Commander Marco Gines, PCG -Special Operations Group (PCG-SOG) deputy chief, said the toddler was clad in pink overall with a pink plastic pacifier and a yellow shirt when found near the rear portion of the 28.15 meter long wooden-hulled boat.

The recovery of the four bodies brought the number of fatalities in the collision between M/V Catalyn B and fishing vessel 'Anatalia' to 10.

The infant was with her father Renel, mother Aiza and another Aunt Cecil, during the voyage but they have yet to be found.

The PCG identified the three other bodies as belonging Mario Redublo, 63; Ester Quinones, 54; and Ailyn Gasmen, 38. (PNA) RMA/JES
