DSWD Secretary visits evacuation centers in Albay

MANILA, Dec. 29 — Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Esperanza I. Cabral visited four evacuation centers in Albay last Saturday to monitor the on-going disaster relief operations for families displaced by the imminent eruption of Mayon volcano.

Cabral visited the evacuation centers in Cabangan Elementary School in Camalig, Agencia Española de Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarollo (AECID) Evacuation Center in Guinobatan, Daraga North Elementary School and Bagumbayan Elementary School where some 1,821 family-evacuees with 8,378 persons are presently temporarily staying.

The DSWD chief also committed to provide tents which will serve as temporary classrooms for displaced students.

With Cabral in her rounds to evacuation centers are Legazpi City Mayor Noel E. Rosal, Albay Governor Joey S. Salceda and Office of Civil Defense Field Office V Director Raffy R. Alejandro IV. (PNA)
