(M/V Baleno 9 tragedy update as of 6 p.m.) Three of six fatalities in sunken M/V Baleno-9 bared

MANILA, Dec. 27 –The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has identified three of the six fatalities, one of them an eight-month-old baby girl, of the M/V Baleno 9 which sank off San Agapito, Verde Island, Batangas on Saturday night.

The PCG identified three of them as Junni Mutya, 36, male; Leahlyn Penaranda, 19, female and eight month-old baby girl Barbara Galanza.

The fourth casualty was described to be female and between 18 and 25 years-old. The fifth and sixth fatalities remained unidentified.

As of 4 p.m Sunday, the PCG recorded six (6) casualties, 20 missing and 62 survivors.

Search and rescue operations continued for 20 other missing passengers and crews of the 199-ton M/V Baleno-9 owned by Besta Shipping Lines.

The ill-fated Roll-on, Roll-off ferry has passenger capacity of 284 people.

Report showed the vessel had on board 14 crew and 74 passengers (for a total of 88 persons on board) and nine rolling cargoes at the time of the incident.

MV Baleno – 9 owned and operated by Pedro Ang of Besta Shipping Lines departed Calapan Pier at 9:30 p.m. Saturday enroute to Batangas.

While underway, the vessel reportedly listed and sank at 10:20 p.m. (PNA) RMA/JES

    the unknown girl was already identified named Hermie An Largado from bulacan dated on december 27, 2009 –> 12 mid morning…
