MANILA, Dec. 24 — President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo Thursday led the destruction of 151.87 kilos of shabu and high-grade cocaine seized by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in various drug operations in Dingalan, Aurora and in the towns of Llorente and Maydolong, both in Eastern Samar.

The destroyed illegal drugs are estimated to be worth P640 million.

PDEA Chief Undersecretary Dionisio Santiago said 85.87 kilos of shabu were intercepted on Dec. 21 at a drug-bust operation in Dingalan, Aurora, while 66 kilograms of high-grade cocaine were seized on Dec. 22-23 after several fisher folk found several brick packages of cocaine at sea.

Santiago said the destruction of confiscated illegal drugs witnessed by the President is “very timely and symbolic” because it signifies the administration’s unwavering drive against prohibited substances.

“Today’s activity clearly signifies our unwavering commitment to seriously liberate our country and the Filipino people from the drug menace. It is the best Christmas gift that we can offer to all peace loving Filipinos,” Santiago said. (PNA)
