MANILA, Dec. 24 – Police have launched a manhunt against a truck driver who allegedly stole about P 1-million worth of grocery items and assorted Nestlé products in Quezon City.

Quezon City police said that Gundo Onong, driver of a container truck, failed to deliver the goods to Tarlac province, and worst, the 20-foot truck that carried the goods had remained missing since Wednesday night.

The driver’s helper, Gringo Sabado, told police that as they reached the corner of A. Bonifacio street and 11th Avenue in Quezon City, Onong asked him to get off the truck and return a tire wrench to their office in Caloocan City.

He said that when he returned, Onong was gone, along with the vehicle.

QCPD-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) investigator SPO1 Mario Turiano said the truck (CSU 983) was owned by Massway Marketing based in Galler Subdivision, Barangay (village) 141 in Caloocan City.

Turiano said the theft was discovered when Massway company president, Ellen Ladakan-Zhogu filed a complaint on Wednesday night.(PNA) RMA/JCA
