Noynoy notes cousin Gibo's improved poll ratings

MANILA, Dec. 22 — No less than Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III on Tuesday acknowledged the surge in the latest survey conducted by Pulse Asia of his cousin and rival in the May 2010 elections, former Defense Secretary Gilberto "Gibo" Teodoro Jr.

"My younger cousin’s increase in figures in the latest survey, I admit, is dramatic," said Aquino.

The latest Pulse Asia survey conducted the first week of December showed Teodoro up by three points from his previous survey rating.

With less than five months before the May 2010 elections, presidential candidates Aquino (Liberal Party) who garnered 45 percent in the national pre-elections survey, topped the list among the presidentiables.

Senator Manuel "Manny” Villar Jr. (Nacionalista Party) got 23 percent while former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada (Puwersa ng Masang Pilipino) has 19 percent.

Teodoro, who is the Lakas-Kampi-CMD (Christian, Muslim, Democrats) standard bearer in next year's polls, has significantly increased in his rating — from two percent to five percent — in the December 2009 Pulse Asia Survey.

On the other hand, Aquino also topped the list in the latest Social Weather Station (SWS) survey released Tuesday.

Among the president aspirants in the May 2010 polls, Aquino garnered 46 percent, while 27 percent of the respondents chose Villar.

In the third place was Estrada who got 16 percent, while five percent chose Teodoro.

Bro. Eddie Villanueva and Sen. Richard Gordon received one percent each. (PNA)
