(Metro News) Two missing in Quiapo fire

MANILA, Dec. 10 –Two male children were reportedly missing when a fire hit squatters' area in Quiapo, Manila on Thursday afternoon.

Several houses were gutted down, rendering several families homeless.

The blaze, which broke out at 4:39 p.m. Thursday at one of the houses on Oroquita Street, Quiapo, spread out at a residential area near the Manila City Jail and the Philippine Rabbit Bus Station.

The operation of the Light Rail Transit –Line 2 – Recto station was temporarily halted as the firewall of the station was very near the squatters’ area affected by the fire.

The LRT operations covered the Legarda station to Santolan station. Only the operation of the LRT Line 2-Recto Station was suspended due to fire.

Probers were still determining the casue of the fire and the amount of damage to property.

The fire remained raging on general alarm as of 6:30 p.m. Thursday as the Manila Fire Department deployed more firefighters and fire volunteers extended help in putting out the fire. (PNA) RMA/JES
