Five Davao boys invited to compete in football series tournament in Europe

DAVAO CITY, Dec. 4 -– Five boys from the Ateneo de Davao have been invited to compete in a series of football tournaments in Europe next year.

The formal invitation was received last November 28 stating that the boys will play in the form part of the Makati Football Club representing the country in the Gothia Cup, the world youth cup in Goteborg, Sweden in July 2010.

They will also participate in the Barecelona Cup and Costa Blanca Cup in Spain.

The five players, Joshua Royce S. Lim, Joshua Ryan S. Lagon, Kahlil Imran P. Jikiri, Gabriel Dominic A. Leyson, and Seth Ysrael J. Cabo, were scouted on the spot by head officials of the Alaska Cup headed by Ignacio Vicente.

The players won fourth place in the 14th Alaska Cup last month at the Alabang Country Club in Ayala, Alabang. The 10 under team's finish was already an excellent showing in the annual Alaska Cup considering the magnitude of this event in local football. (PNA) FFC/MPB/lvp
