MANILA, Dec. 1 -— President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will hold a command conference this week in Maguindanao, according to Press Secretary Cerge Remonde.

He told reporters in a chance interview after President Arroyo filed her candidacy as congresswoman for the second district of Pampanga on Tuesday morning that President Arroyo will also visit the wake of some of the victims particularly the mediamen killed in the Ampatuan, Maguindanao massacre.

Remonde said the Chief Executive Arroyo will hold the command conference within the week to restore peace and order in the province in the aftermath of the worst election-related carnage yet where 57 people were killed, including some 30 journalists.

Last week President Arroyo declared state of emergency in Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat, including Cotobato City, right after the gruesome Maguindanao massacre.

She also authorized Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno to carry out his own recommendations to suspend all the local officials of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and Maguindanao.

Puno in implementing the order of the President also relieved police and military officials in ARMM and Maguindanao.(PNA)
