MANILA, Nov. 28 —- As part of its efforts to provide more cheer for its employees this Christmas season, the Navotas local government announced that it has released additional cash benefits which includes, additional one month full salary and P2,500 cash gift each employee.

The announcement was made in time for the city government’s preparation for the holiday programs which is now in full swing such as the inter-school parol making contest, lighting of the giant Christmas tree along C-4 road, setting up of decorative lights on the main roads and the city hall premises and the conduct of the “Ham for the Poor” program.

It will be recalled that last month, Navotas mayor Tobias "Toby" Tiangco also ordered the release of the 13th month pay each employee.

City Treasurer Manny Enriquez said funds are available and they are now facilitating the release of the cash benefits to allow the employees to have enough funds for this coming Christmas holidays.

“Over and above the 13th month pay, we want to reward our city hall employees for their performance. We want also to avoid the Christmas rush and the impending increases in prices as the holiday season nears. This is an early gift to the local public servants,” Tiangco pointed out.

Acting Human Resource Management Officer (HRMO) Catalina Furo said Navotas city government has 1,465 employees.

Despite the current economic crisis, Tiangco said the city government will do everything to make this Christmas happy not only for local government workers but to the common Navoteños as well.

Under the theme “Kinabukasan ay ating paghandaan, Isapuso’t isaisip ang diwa ng Kapaskuhan,” the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) said the traditional “Ham for the Poor” program is all set and the schedule of the distribution is one week before Christmas Day. (PNA)
