MANILA, Nov. 26 — President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo offered the 34th National Prayer Breakfast held Thursday morning at the Malago grounds in Malacanang Park for the victims of Monday's massacre in Maguindanao province.
Earlier, while in Porac, Pampanga on Wednesday, the President declared the observance of a national day of mourning in honor of the more than 50 victims of the gruesome killings in that southern Philippines province.
She also ordered the hoisting of the Philippine flag all over the country in half-mast in observance of the national day of mourning.
”Yes, there is no condemnation in the Lord, but on the other hand, there is a system of justice that the perpetrators will not find a room to escape justice,” President Arroyo said during the 34th National Prayer Breakfast.
She noted that the Maguindanao massacre created public anger and it was also an insult to the Islamic religious faith.
”Their religion is just as offended by these criminal acts (Maguindanao massacre),” she added.
President Arroyo earlier ordered a swift and precise investigation on the violent incident to ensure that justice is served to the victims and the full force of the law is applied against the perpetrators. (PNA)
